Con Amore is a mixed amateur choir with approximately 50 singers in four vocal groups. Our members mainly live in the Oslo region, and all share an interest in creating beautiful music together.
When and where do we rehearse?
Every Thursday from 7:00 pm until 9:30 pm, next to Nordberg Church, Kringsjågrenda 1, Oslo.

Conductor
Jon Berg Eriksen is a young and talented professional conductor and singer, with a wide range of musical interests. He particularly enjoys romantic music and early jazz. In June 2018, he completed a four-year bachelor’s degree in choral conducting at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and later his Master’s degree at the University of Agder in 2022. Despite his young age, Jon has gained a wealth of experience as a conductor and is known for his knowledge, approachability and teaching skills. He has a natural talent for educating and is highly competent. In recent years, he has focused on working with equal voices, especially male voices. He has worked with several ensembles, such as the male quartet «Tre Skjeggete Menn», Ensemble Rex, Sandvikens Mandskor and Drøbak mannskor, and has gained valuable knowledge on creating a harmonious choir sound, whether it is with young or older voices. Jon is also a teacher at Oslo By Steinerskole, for young aspiring singers. In addition to all this, he also creates his own arrangements and original compositions for choir.
Social events
Every year we spend a weekend together at a seminar, not far from Oslo where we rehearse, dine and spend time together. Some years we also try to travel abroad, and we have been to both Riga, Budapest, Berlin, Toscana and Bergen.
Origin of the choir
Con Amore started in 1969 with a group of singers from Oslo Youth Choir (OYC). The age of retirement from OYC was age 33, and many of the «retired» singers wanted to continue singing.
Several conductors have made extraordinary contributions to the choir. Our first conductor was Tor Skauge. He conducted Con Amore for many decades. He was followed for a short period by Aage Bjartaas. Eirik Sørborg was our conductor from 1997 to 2002, and Ida Baalsrud was our conductor from 2002 until Egil Fossum took over in 2012. Our present conductor, Jon Berg Eriksen, started working with Con Amore in August 2020.
